These 200 year old decanter and glasses are fully handmade. Blown on the pipe, pulled and hand formed with wooden tools, hand cut and hand polished. They all have a polished-out pontil.
The blue color was obtained by adding cobaltoxide to the glass mass. These pieces were initialy meant for serving white wine and sherry, the coloring was mainly to hide the liquid had not always cleared. The decanter has 11 facets at the lower part and 11 at the higher part of the body. It has it's original stopper and the stopper is hollow blown, hexagonal shaped - 6 sided and fits perfect.
The glasses have 8 facets from half way the funel shaped cuppa / bowl, all the way down to the foot. The stem has a diamond shaped 8x faceted knop. Condition: no cracks, no chips, after 200 years these pieces have only very, very slight signs of use.
The decanter has a tiny flee bit to the top rim and one to the bottom edge, one glass seems to be restored at the top rim. Decanter height: 33 cm / ca.
