This is a rare and very beautiful etched and cut glass.. Sorry I don't know exactly what to call it. It is both etched and cut. It has a ground and polished bottom. I believe it was made by Hawkes and is a lovely example of Hawkes Gravic glass. The etching is very finely cut and very detailed and deep. The primary design is of a big beautiful poppy with leaves and stems swirling around the entire body of the jug. There is a poppy on the front and one on the back. When light shines on the etching the design looks almost clear.... But this is not a cut to clear piece. The Entire blank is a medium "fern" green. There are two small pouring spouts on each side of the jug. If you look into the tiny spouts you will see there is just enough room for a thin liquid such as wine to pour out. There are contiguous thumb print cuts around the neck and the base.

The bottom of the base slants in resulting in a small pedestal. This is a substantial piece weighing 2 pounds. It is 9.5" to the top of the stopper and is 4.5" wide. I think this would make a great cocktail mixer, but it is just too pretty to use.
